The Heat Is On! Campaign Makes 388 DUI Arrests

            Law enforcement agencies participating in The Heat Is On! DUI enforcement for the New Year’s holiday weekend made 388 DUI arrests, reports the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).  The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and 53 police and sheriff’s departments statewide arrested 388 intoxicated drivers from 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 28 through 3:00 a.m. January 1.

            The CSP made 106 DUI arrests statewide.  The Denver Police Department made 38 DUI arrests and the Aurora Police Department made nine DUI arrests.

            In Boulder County, agencies made 39 DUI arrests.  The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office made 14 DUI arrests.  The Boulder and Lafayette police departments made 15 and 10 DUI arrests, respectively.

            In El Paso County, The Colorado Springs Police Department made 33 DUI arrests and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office made 13 DUI arrests.  In Pueblo County, the sheriff’s office made seven DUI arrests.

            In Larimer County, the sheriff’s office made 21 DUI arrests and the Fort Collins Police Department made 16 such arrests.  (Editors:  A complete list of DUI arrests by agency is attached.)

            The Heat Is On! campaign is a partnership, including, CDOT, CSP and police and sheriff’s departments receiving Law Enforcement Assistance Fund (LEAF) grants.  Last year, The Heat Is On! campaign made 394 DUI arrests during the New Year’s holiday enforcement period.  St. Patrick’s Day is the next DUI enforcement period for The Heat Is On! campaign.
